Annaleigh is doing a limited City Center concert production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s “Sunday in the Park With George,” which opened in a gala performance on Monday night and runs only through Wednesday.
That the Tony-winning musical veteran Ms. Ashford is a delight as both Dot and, in the second act, Dot’s now ancient daughter (who is the latter-day George’s grandmother), should surprise no one. But the warmth and wit she brings to her characters have a generosity of spirit that seems as much about helping us understand the way her characters see, and love, their Georges, as it is about making us fall in love with her.
Definitely check out the rest of the review. I've also added a picture to the gallery from the production.
